​Islanding & Blackstart-Capable Microgrid for SRJC

Center for Sustainable Energy
​

Tim led the conceptual and architectural design of a resilient 2MW/2MWh microgrid enabling full islanding and blackstart capability across Santa Rosa Junior College’s 12.7kV campus grid. He assembled the multidisciplinary project team and authored the technical and business case for the successful $5M grant proposal awarded by the California Energy Commission. The project delivers critical resiliency in a wildfire-prone region and has ben successfully demonstrated with PG&E.

Solar + Battery Backup System for Del Mar Civic Center

Center for Sustainable Energy
Tim designed the solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system for the City of Del Mar’s new Civic Center, enabling critical load backup for municipal operations. He conducted the economic analysis, system performance modeling, and installation planning that formed the foundation of the successful grant proposal to the California Energy Commission. His work directly informed the city’s RFP, which led to a successful project award and deployment.
